I don't know how far the democrats will pursue this line but they should push it and push it hard. If I were BHO, I'd come out and say that Clark and the rest of the cut and runners or whatever - who cares - haven't praised McCain's service enough, that he is a hero of titanic proportions, a bulldog who would even today make a great soldier because his courage and bravery are not debatable. Hell, give him another medal of honor. BUT, that whole story has nothing to do with policy making and grand strategy, let alone how to deal with those thorny issues that the bible thumping gun toters seem so bitter about. For a bunch of obvious reasons the GOP has convinced us that in times like these we all should bow down to the mighty flag pin, support the troops, and to make virtually no distinction between correlation and causation. The flap is focused on ingrained but flawed inductive reasoning (the type that democrats almost always use to try and figure out the quickest way to the 7-11).

I'm quite certain that McCain would destroy Obama in a bar fight and I'm equally convinced that is not a good reason to vote for him.
