Richard R. does not know what he is talking about. On most issues, Jim and his supporters are in agreement. Richard, why don't you write a novel?

Those immoral people! At lest his opponent and his supporters did not resort to his fictionalworks to call him unfit to be in office....it would be truly stupid, ignorant, and just plain dumb to take fiction and claim this to be the writer's values

Webb was in a very strange position as a candidate. Most of his supporters agreed with him on only one topic - Iraq. Every other position he had, from gun control to abortion to gay rights to illegal imigration, his position was far to the right of his supporters. In some cases, it was to the right of Allen's.

So he knew that at any moment any one of the bloggers supporting could re-order their priorities, drop Iraq down a notch or 2 and turn against him. And a former Webb blogger working against him would do much more damage than an Allen blogger.

If he DIDN'T do research on his supporters, he's a moron. And I've read his stuff - he's not a moron.

But Vanden Berg is being less than truthful.

Not a bad point.

As I mention above, there's nothing scandalous about oppo and self-research. But just as campaigns are learning about blogs as they go along, so are bloggers learning about campaigns. And this fact of campaigning seems to be coming as a rude shock -- even if it shouldn't.

That said, now that Vanden Berg has gone on the record to Wilmore about it, I think that might be enough of a hook for the Post to start placing calls.

I'd be quite surprised to see the MSM jump on this story. Not enough "there" there, if you know what I mean.
