I'm compelled to note that for the analogy between the New York Firefighters Union and the Swift Boat Veterans to hold, the New York Firefighters would need to be either misrepresenting themselves or making demonstrably untrue claims about Giuliani. Were none of the vocal members of the New York Firefighters Union actually working firefighters in New York City under the leadership of Mayor Giuliani? Can the claims they make pertaining to his performance be shown to be fabrications? If so, Giuliani should learn from Kerry's mistake: he should counter those claims early and loudly to defame his defamers before they have a chance to deeply impact the public consciousness. I don't see it happening.&lt;/p&gt;
