&lt;p&gt;(If Thompson does end up running, the first thing he's going to have to do is resolve this. The American people will demand a clear, unambiguous onomatopoeia - he can't say "thunk thunk" to one constituency and "chung chung" to everyone else.)&lt;/p&gt;
